New Years

Happy Up Coming New Years.

So many more grids to explore. So little time to do it in.

Linden Labs has a new CEO, is merging the teen grid, will introduce mesh to our world.
Also, we'll have more group space added to our profiles. Not as much as Meta7, but it'll do. So starting out the new year right in SL.

Meta7 is re a-ranging the sims so that all the adult stuff is on another grid and the rest will be on another. They still have bugs and kinks to work out of the grid, but things are looking up.

OS Grid is introducing mesh.

In Worldz is moving along good. IW is growing by leaps and bounds.

What's my next grid?

I donno.

The Giving Hunt

Hello Blogger,

You have been specifically requested by one or more of the participating stores in The Giving Hunt to blog about this upcoming kids hunt occuring from November 14 to November 28. To view all participating stores in this giving endeavor, please feel free to visit the hunt blog:
http://thegivinghunt.blogspot.com/

The Giving Hunt was designed for a time of giving that will be celebrated across the grid from a select gathering of SL designers for kids and the young at heart no matter where you are located. Together, we give thanks to anyone who will take part in our celebration with gifts of pride, love, and inspiration.

Whatever gift each merchant offers, it is still a gift of thanks no matter the size, shape, or value. These merchants, though busy in both rl and sl, have agreed to take time out of their busy lives to give back to the community - and we thank them for that.

We hope you, as bloggers, will join us in this celebration to raise awareness about this hunt in the SL community. We welcome you to participate in this hunt and blog about these gifts the merchants have graciously spent time on when the time comes.

Real life missing person

Dear Friends,

I have left SL but have come for a visit to beg everyone to please help me.

My daughters best friend has been missing from Joplin, Missouri now for 6 days. We have gone into homes of suspected gang members, drug dealers, homes of these peoples parents, the schools, businesses, we have put fliers everywhere.

There are rumors of her in Oklahomia, Detroit, Kansas City as well as in Joplin still.

Please help us!

Send this to every group. Daily, hourly, weekly, whatever you can do.

The only way to find this girl is for the world to help. She has family and friends and we love her so very much!

We have spent hours and hours looking and putting up flyers, talking to teen agers.

This is just another step I could think of. Please please please help.

Updates

The Lindens are making a little update to the veiwer soon. We will be getting Display names over our avies. I think it'll be great but with all new things comes some bad too. Will griefters use this to bother us? I'm sure yes is the answer to that. But you can always check thier profiles to make sure who is who.

The following quote is taken from the Second Life (TM) Wiki found here:

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Display_Names

" Why is Linden Lab introducing the Display Name feature now?

Growing the SL Resident-base is a business objective that we're deeply committed to and we hope that you'll also benefit from that growth. We're also exploring ways to attract new Residents by making their registration and first-hour experiences in Second Life more compelling. We have long known that selecting a Second Life name is one of the biggest hurdles in the new Resident registration process; it is a common reason why potential new Residents abandon registration and it has consistently received very low ratings in new Resident surveys. The freedom to choose an avatar name in Second Life is something that many Residents have been wanting for a long time and it took some time to develop a feature that gave you as much flexibility as possible. This feature is an important step on our social media strategy that will ultimately allow you to connect your inworld identity to other social networks, on an opt-in basis. Again, Display Names and eventually, the connection to social networks, is all about choice. "

I'm kinda looking forward to this and have been thinking of names and identities.
If I ever dj, then I can use it then. I'll use it for role playing times too.
If you have any problems with this, then here's the Jira:
http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-6194

Another change that the Lindens are doing will be to merge the teen grid to the main grid. Only the ages of 16 and 17 will be apart of the merge. The rest of the underage teens will have to be cut from SL all together. Only the PG areas will be open for the underage. No other grid that I know of had a underage grid.
There may be ways of getting to the adult and mature areas that are out there.

What ever changes the Lindens are doing will pave the way for other grids to follow.

My blog turns 3 yrs old

Not my birthday, my blog's birthday.

Three years ago I started to blog my fun times in second life (TM) and have had so much fun doing it. Through good times and bad I've made note of all things great and small. Looking back, I can see now some posts I wish I hadn't posted and some I wish I made better. There's always room for improvement and growth.

With that said, I have made my blog a better look and will continue to do so as time goes on. I have now moved onto three other grids and will blog about those soon as well. With my blog I will try to show the many other grids that exists in the Meta verse. I’m like a virtual reporter letting everyone know of this different means of social networking.

Not to worry though as I will still be in SL most of the time. In fact I’ll be posting a few things in the coming days and weeks on my own in world fun.

There’s always more fun to be had.

Happy birthday to you blog and happy party to all my readers. My we have many more years to have fun.

100 Lindens oh my

They closed some offices in Erope today and at least 100 Lindens lost thier jobs rl.
According to a friend in sl, they are sending out black armbands to everyone.

I'll be saving textures and such to use in the other grids.

Looks like I found a new home just in time.

Meta7

These are pics of me on the Meta7 grid. I hope everyone can find me.
I signed up about a year ago, but never could get online.
Last week I sent in a ticket on my account.
They told me to reset my password and bingo.

Why yes I'm a girl avatar. Why? I thought that I'm a male in sl so why not be a girl in M7?

Subway Hero

Wow, there's a person that is dubed the 'Subway Hero'.

http://www.wpix.com/news/wpix-subway-hero-disappears,0,1767389.story

It seems the hero saved a young woman and then left the scene afterwards.

Maybe the guy had another young woman to rescue. Now if we all took the time to save someone, this world would be better for it.

Day of Remembrance 2010

Today was the Day of Remembrance is Seocond Life.

A day to remember friends, young and old. I would have liked to send a candle out to sea with a friend's name on it again this year, but I was disapointed when I saw there was no place set up like last years.

Bad thoughts aside, I went and paid my virtual respects to those that have gone before me.

Lira Wylie, I will never forget you.

UPDATE: I did find the area where the candles are.
http://slurl.com/secondlife/San%20Michele/70/153/21

I sent a candle out for Lira, but it's also there to represent all my friends I've lost over the year.

Bugs in a Linden home.

I found a home that is infested with huge bugs. Somewhere in the sim of Nightjar there is a house that has bugs that's as big as the house it self. Are they art? Are they a person's whim? I love em.

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

I made a short vid

I made a short vid in sl during a Raglan class on machinima. There's Zayn Till hopping in the background. The scene stealer.

Warning?

I don't know if this is true or not:

Fraud-poisoning attacks

Be aware that if someone gives you a sum of L$ out of the blue for no apparent reason, it probably isn't money from heaven; We had a major case in 2006 of the same, using stolen L$ and credit fraud; If you receive fraudulent funds, LL probably will suspend your account pending investigation, and the worst thing you can do is immediately cash out. Be cautious, be aware, and DO look the gift horse in the mouth.

Sign of the times

Yet another sign of the times is this sign.

Sign of the times

I was doing a hunt and found this in someone's store. It's a bunch of Xstreet server boxes in a trash can. It has a hover text above it sayin "Soon moving to a new web service."

By the way, hunters, this is not the hunt item your looking for.

Raglan's Steampunk'd Mardigras

Raglan Shire is doing Mardigras Steampunk style.
Parties, movies, dances and a parade all in the style of steam punk.
All this in the memory of Stillpink an old friend of the Shire's.

I never knew her, but I'm sure we'd get along great.

A home for a nome

Premuim members of sl can pick a home for free.

Yes, the stories of free land comes to my mind. I'm not old enough to have seen them first hand, but I remember the stories of how sl members got the land for free.
At that time it was new territory sl was. Now you can get a free home if you've signed up for the premuim membership.

I think there are strings attached.

In the meantime, I'm gonna look for a nice castle to live in. Some of the themes available are Japan style homes, loft style homes, A frame homes, quads, and fantasy type homes. I just wish I could build my cookie jar there and put a skybox in the sky.
The homes are too close for that though. I may end up with a hobbit's themed home.

All homes are not furnished and you can't pick a home next to your friend's home.

They are in mature sims as well, so be aware there will be kid avies mixed in as well.

the SLC, Second Love and Avatars United

The SLC moved thier tree to just in front of the Vortex.
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Whippersnapper/37/50/25
Gemini says there will be more stuff the SLC (Second Life Children) will be doing in the future. The new place, which is a old place according to the SLC elders, also has the famous tree house. The place offers a stage for future events. a renovated tree house for story time, arcade games, the adult to kid avie transmogrifier box and the info on kid avies as always.

Speaking of avies, I'm into a website called Avatars United (AU). It's a myspace for avatars of online games. Games like Wolrd of Warcraft, Eve, SL, etc.

There's a thing to it though. Linden Labs, owners of SL, have bought AU.
Reasons have yet to be said, to me anyway. Now people can hook up for anything here.
And it also has a neat little hud in world that acts like a Twitter hud.
It was created by a resident and it lets you post stuff to your profile like where your at and what your doing at the moment. It's called Blip and I just blipped that I was blogging and left my blogg addy.

And that brings me to my next topic: Second Love. Second Love was created by a
resident also, a fellow kid/teen avie in fact. It's a 2 part hud that you pick up here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Whippersnapper/160/155/22 for free. It's still getting the bugs worked out right now. It offers four options: Friendship, Romance, Sex and Adoption. All of which should not be confused with the others.

That's about it for now.

Back

I'm back. I've been lazy as far as the blog goes.

Lots of different things have happened since my last post.
Lots of things happened even before the last post. Stuff like Torley being moved or "re-assinged" to another dept. That's why he hasn't posted anymore tutorials in-world.
The Menters group had been disbanded.

More stuff coming up.
